My Erasmus journey took me to Badajoz, a charming city on Spain’s border with Portugal, where I spent an unforgettable semester. I arrived with some expectations but found so much more than I anticipated—an open-hearted culture, vibrant traditions, and a chance to grow in ways I hadn’t imagined.

From the beginning, Badajoz welcomed me like an old friend. The warm, welcoming atmosphere extended beyond the city’s cobblestone streets and historical sites, as locals and other Erasmus students created an immediate sense of community. Living in Badajoz was a blend of cultural immersion and personal discovery, with moments like joining Spanish fiestas, savoring tapas, and late-night strolls through the city square with friends becoming part of my everyday life.Classes at the university wew in spanish so they challenged me academically but also opened my mind to new perspectives, both academically and personally. The supportive environment, along with the dynamic, interactive teaching methods, allowed me to excel and learn at a comfortable pace.

Each trip offered a new layer of understanding of the region’s unique blend of Spanish and Portuguese influences. Each time I returned from a trip, Badajoz began to feel more like home. I found joy in the familiar cobbled streets, the laughter of friends, and the vibrant rhythm of Spanish life. The kindness of both locals and other students made me feel like I belonged.By the end of my Erasmus exchange, Badajoz had become more than a city to me; it felt like a second home. I left with a deeper sense of self and a profound appreciation for the warmth and hospitality of Spain. My Erasmus experience in Badajoz taught me resilience, broadened my horizons, and filled me with unforgettable memories that I’ll cherish forever.
