Cappadocia is a place that has all the geological beauties of earth and beyond. Volcanic eruptions created this surreal moonscape; The lava flows formed tuff rock, which wind and rain sculpted into sinuous valleys with curvy cliff faces and pointy fairy chimneys. It is famous for its fairytale scenery, cave dwellings, remarkable rock formations and, of course, the hundreds of hot air balloons that soar in the sky during sunrise each morning.

The fantastical topography is matched by human history here. People have long utilised the region's soft stone, seeking shelter underground and leaving the countryside scattered with fascinating cavern architecture.

ESN Ankara University had the opportunity to visit this great area along with many Erasmus students from various universities across Turkey, and we all had an amazing time exploring this magical place. Come join us and explore the beauty of Turkey's history and culture!
