The most recent Erasmus+ Youth Exchange Project I attended was in Serbia, in December 2023. It was an amazing journey filled up with great friendships, experiences and memories.
7 days of my 9-day-visit were for this amazing project in Avala Mountain, where we stayed and experienced all kinds of weather contiditons. First day's starters, ice-breakers and energizers, getting to know each other. The project topic is explained, as the name already giving us some clues, it was learning about social inclusion using non-formal education methods.
Our project days went on with team building activities using non-formal education methods, cultural exchange sessions and culture nights of each participant country's food and presentation. Each team led their own sessions as well as the mixed team activities. Us, participants, were encouraged to get to know everyone in the project as a great tool of social inclusion and interaction.
As my team's leader I was in charge of my team's participation and engagement with the project as well as our session. Everyone both in my team and outside of my team was so great. I had amazing friends from the project which I am still in touch with. Everyone was so friendly, especially the Serbian team, who were the host country & team for our project.
After the project came to an end we rented an apartment in Belgrade with a few friends to stay for a couple of days. Since there is a great opportunity provided by the European Union that you can spend +2 days before returning to your country and can still get reimbursed for your travel expenses till you reach the travel budget. Our apartment was in the heart of the city, a great spot for hangouts with friends and was close to our Serbian friends who lived in Belgrade. We wandered around in the streets of Belgrade, tried cultural foods, seen their early Christmas market, and more!
It was one of my best project and travel experiences thanks to the friends I had over there and the helpful Serbians we met around the country.
